Insegna dei primi imperatori cristiani di Roma, simile al vessillo della cavalleria, ma piu piccolo e sormontato, anziche dall'aquila, dal monogramma intrecciato XP. E ancora in uso in Italia, in forma simile al gonfalone ma quadrato, presso associazioni e partiti politici, dopo essere stato ampiamente usato dal regime fascista.

An emblem used by the Christian Emperors of Rome, similar to the cavalry standard only smaller and on the top, the eagle has been replaced by the interlocking initials XP. It was once widely used by the Fascist Regime in Italy, and to this day is still used by many associations and political parties, in a square shape which is otherwise similar to the gonfalon.
